Katarina Sams is a first year Doctor of Musical Arts in flute performance student at Shenandoah Conservatory. A student of Julietta Curenton, Katarina is a recipient of the Leslie M. Watada Scholarship and is a graduate assistant in crew support and flute studio support. She plays in the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Flute Ensemble, and part of a chamber group within the chamber music department.
Katarina studied flute with Florence Dubrez in Geneva, Switzerland, and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance degree with honors at Wake Forest University under the tutelage of Kathryn Levy. This past summer, she participated in the Woodwind Intensive Workshop at Domaine Forget in Canada, and played piccolo for the World Youth Wind Orchestra Project in Schladming, Austria for the third time.
