Dr Maja Tremiszewska is a classically trained concert pianist and vocal coach, born and raised in Poland. Since relocating to Boston in 2003, she has been a ubiquitous figure in the city’s classical music scene. She has performed as a recitalist, soloist, collaborative pianist and orchestra keyboardist in many halls and venues locally and nationally. Performance highlights include Boston Symphony Hall and Tanglewood Koussevitzky Music Shed (keyboardist with the Boston Pops), Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music in New York City (premiere of Preludes and Fugues by Larry Bell for piano solo), Harvard Arts Museum (solo and chamber music recital under the auspices of Refugee Orchestra Project), Boston Cutler Majestic Theater (harpsichord recitatives for Rake's Progress with Boston Lyric Opera) and Tsai Performance Center (Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G with Boston University Symphony Orchestra).
Dr. Tremiszewska’s greatest passion lies in the world of opera. She has served as an Emerging Artist and staff pianist for the Boston Lyric Opera, as well as Master Coach for MassOpera Young Artists Program at Longy School of Music. She is also a sought-after coach and repetiteur for various Boston-based opera companies, including MassOpera, Guerilla Opera, Boston Opera Collaborative, and the North End Music and Performing Arts Center. She has worked on an extensive list of productions, including works such as La Boheme, Carmen, La Clemenza di Tito, The Consul, Dialogues of Carmelites, L'enfant et le sortilèges, Ghosts of Versailles, Don Giovanni, Glory Denied, Le Nozze di Figaro, Little Women, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Thumbprint, Don Pasquale and La Traviata, among many others. She created a long-lasting relationship with Boston-based Enigma Chamber Opera, serving on the music staff for the company since its inception in 2019. The collaboration included Britten’s church parables Curlew River, Burning Fiery Furnace and Prodigal Son, as well as the company’s debut performance of Turn of the Screw at the New England Conservatory. She also recorded piano tracks for the company’s digital production of Mozart’s Impresario. Her recent operatic engagements include Meyerbeer’s Le Prophète and Saint-Saëns' Henry VIII at the Bard SummerScape festival in upstate New York, Das Rhinegold with the Wagner Institute at the Miami Music Festival, and Norma and La Damnation de Faust with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Beyond opera, Dr. Tremiszewska is an experienced orchestra keyboardist, regularly performing in professional, community, and collegial orchestras. She has performed with the Boston Pops, Boston Landmarks Orchestra, Brookline Symphony Orchestra, Miami Summer Music Festival orchestra, and Boston Conservatory at Berklee orchestra, among many others. During her doctoral studies at Boston University, Dr. Tremiszewska frequently performed with its orchestras, both as an orchestral keyboardist and as a soloist. Her repertoire spans from symphonic and operatic works to film scoring genres.
Maja Tremiszewska is newly appointed assistant professor in vocal coaching at Shenandoah Conservatory. She previously served on the faculty at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee Voice department and as a repetiteur for the institution’s opera productions. She has won numerous prizes, including first prize at the First International Chamber Music Competition of Chamber Music Society of New England, which led to the performance at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano degree from Boston University; Graduate Performance Diploma from the Boston Conservatory; and Bachelor and Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, Poland. Her opera training has included a fellowship in opera coaching at the Aspen Opera Center, a vocal collaborative fellowship at the Miami Music Festival, and an opera coaching residency at the Chicago Summer Opera.
