Natalya Getman
Artistic Director Bossov Ballet Theatre

Natalya Nikolaevna Getman was born in Russia.
She was a gymnastics champion by the age of ten. She forms part of the Vaganova lineage through her teacher, Musaeva, National Artist of the Soviet Union and former student of Balikova, an early student of Agrippina Vaganova.

Getman studied at the Vaganova Academy under Kovaleva, and went on to graduate with honors from the Uzbek Choreographic School. During her professional career she danced soloist and principal roles at the Turkmenistan State Theater of Ballet and Opera, and the Moscow Ballet, where she worked with famous masters such as Ludmila Semenyaka, Mikhail Lavrosky and Anatoly Golovan.

After touring extensively throughout countries like Turkey, Spain, Israel and China, in 1999 Getman came to the United States to dance and teach choreography to local children in over 50 U.S. cities to allow them to dance in the children's roles with the visiting company when they travel with The Nutcracker to their city.

Inspired by a deep respect for the American way of living, she embarks on the mission of combining the best of it with the beauty and logic of Russian ballet to form a new generation of dancers capable of facing the high requirements of current dance.

Her unrivaled talent and experience in choreographic and stage composition, as well as her commitment and charisma, integrate the trademark of her teaching, which reaches and lasts beyond the classroom, forming upright, committed, ethical and generous artists.

Martin Friedman | Founder-Director-Japan Grand Prix International Ballet Competition "Natalya Getman is one of the finest teachers of classical dance I have met, a truly exceptional, inspired teacher of classical dance."
