Wagner Mauricio hails from Quito, Ecuador. He has participated in vocal professional engagements including The American Spiritual Ensemble, Kentucky Opera/Santa Fe Opera, North Carolina Summer Opera, South Bend Lyric Opera, the A. J. Fletcher Opera Institute, the Ecuador National Symphonic Orchestra, and the Sucre National Theater. In 2020 Wagner received the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions encouragement award, Lexington, KY, and placed semifinalist in the Saengerbund Awards, Huston, TX, as well as in the Opera Premier Foundation, NYC.
W. Mauricio has performed leading romantic tenors such as Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata, Werther by Massenet, Don José in Bizet's Carmen, and Nemorino in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amor. This summer Wagner M. will be performing with Cincinnati Opera in Aida, La Bohème, and The Pirates of Penzance. Currently, Wagner is a doctoral candidate in musical arts-voice performance under the mentorship of Dr. Everett McCorvey and vocal coach Professor Cliff Jackson. Also, he is a student of the Music Therapy Equivalency program at the University of Kentucky.
