Katherine Lowther is the Fine Arts Chair at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, KY, where she has taught English, art history, and piano for 18 years. She also serves as producer, director, and accompanist for GRC’s theatre program; Assistant Music Minister at First Baptist Church Winchester; and freelance accompanist specializing in sight-reading and emergency substitution throughout the region. Bright Star brings Katherine back to the University of Kentucky, where she earned degrees in Music/Liberal Arts (Piano), English Education, and Music Education (Rank I). Katherine’s children, Bobby and Janeway, are also active performers, most recently appearing in UK Opera’s La Boheme (Janeway) and Vanderbilt Theatre’s The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Bobby). Bright Star marks the first large-scale production Katherine has accompanied since the pandemic shut down in-person performances over two years ago. The privilege of having rehearsed with this talented young cast has been a transformative and healing gift that shall not soon be forgotten.
