Over the past nine years, Kara Powell has held positions both on and off stage. She has participated in Independence High School's One Acts Festivals as both an actor and the co-director of Small Actors. Additionally, she has held the positions of Co-Head of Costumes Crew at Independence High School, Wardrobe Crew and Crew Chief at UK, Assistant Director of The Laramie Project at UK, and Assistant Director and Dramaturg of Bright Star at UK.
