Tracy Ward
Costume Designer & Lead Costume Crafts

Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Tracy came to UK after working nationally for companies of every shape and size, including The Washington National Opera, The Shakespeare Theatre in DC, the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts in California, and the installation team of Le Reve at Wynn Las Vegas. Tracy has designed more than seventy five productions across the country during her career and some of her favorite professional designs include All My Sons, Fiddler on the Roof, Paint Your Wagon, All Shook Up, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and Damn Yankees. Her favorite designs here at UK include The 39 Steps (2015), The Importance of Being Earnest (2015), and Cabaret (2019). She is also an accomplished Costume Technician, working most recently with Tuacahn Performing Arts Center (Utah), Fulton Theatre (Pennsylvania), and Maine State Music Theatre. Tracy holds a BA in Theatre from Michigan State University and an MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the University of Florida. After becoming a mother Tracy recognized that parents, particularly women, were deeply underserved and unsupported in our industry. In 2017 she began advocating for conditions that allow theatre artists to better balance family and professional responsibilities. She is also a proud member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians and works to end Indigenous Invisibility in the performing arts. She loves teaching here at UK, and is incredibly proud of the hard work the students have put into this production.
