Stand was composed in December 2021. Often in life, we are required to take a stand, to affirm our beliefs and decisions. When our resolve is questioned or discounted, taking a stand requires more of us: calm resolve, unshakable faith, strength of will, and even a more active boldness. STAND embodies some of the energy and purposefulness of these experiences. The form of STAND is roughly A- B- A’ - Coda. To oversimplify, the A sections have a fanfare- like, major- mode quality, and the central B section has a more lyrical, minor-mode sound, while the concluding Coda combines several ideas in a bold summation.
