The ballet opens and reveals Alice, her sister, and her father at the riverbank. Alice spots the White Rabbit, and after a playful interlude, the rabbit pushes Alice into a hole. Alice points and attempts to show her sister, but her sister is not able to see the rabbit. As Alice's curiosity is piqued, she chases after the rabbit and falls into Wonderland. As Alice is tumbling down the rabbit hole, she looks around to see the bookshelves floating through the air.

Alice enters a room of doors. She is curious about the doors and how to get in. The White Rabbit hops through and gives her a bottle labeled "Drink Me" and then runs away. Alice drinks the potion and begins to grow too large for the room. Little doors appear. The White Rabbit scampers in and gives Alice a cookie labeled "Eat Me". Alice eats a small piece of cookie and she begins to shrink and finally returns to normal size.

In Wonderland, Alice enters the chaos of a race. She is surprised to meet: an eaglet, dodo, flamingos, hedgehogs, and piglets. The White Rabbit appears. Alice is entertained by the dance of the flamingos and meets the Caterpillar.

Alice watches as the Caterpillar changes and transforms into a butterfly. She says goodbye to the Caterpillar and encounters Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. The Tweedles never stop arguing, no matter how hard Alice tries to break up the fight. The ferocious Jabberwocky lurks in the woods, hunting nearby. The Tweedles suddenly stop their arguing when they remember that the Jabberwocky lives nearby. Alice and the Tweedles leave the area and come upon the mysterious Cheshire Cat, who warns Alice about the dangers of the forest.

Alice wanders around the forest. The White Rabbit finds her and brings her to an unexpected tea party. This is where she meets the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and Dormouse. The group has a grand tea party, and just when Alice had enough of the craziness of the Mad Hatter, the group is surprised by an attack by the Jabberwocky and everyone runs for their lives.
