Giovanni Villalobos
Stager, The Times are Racing

Giovanni Villalobos, originally from Puerto Rico, is an esteemed Ballet Master with a distinguished career as a dancer, teacher, and rehearsal director. A former dancer with New York City Ballet for over 14 years, he performed leading roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and Peter Martins, among others. His artistry extended beyond performance, as he later dedicated himself to coaching and setting ballets by some of the most renowned choreographers, including Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky, and Justin Peck.

As a Rehearsal Director at Pacific Northwest Ballet, Giovanni played a key role in maintaining the company’s artistic excellence, overseeing rehearsals for productions ranging from Balanchine classics to contemporary world premieres. He worked closely with choreographers, dancers, and artistic staff to ensure the integrity of each performance, setting ballets by Twyla Tharp, David Dawson, Alejandro Cerrudo, Edward Liang, and more. His expertise in staging, coaching, and structuring rehearsals contributed to the success of numerous productions, balancing technical precision with artistic interpretation.

With over 15 years of teaching experience, Giovanni has been on faculty at institutions such as the School of American Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet School. Currently freelancing and based out of Orlando, FL, he continues to shape the next generation of dancers with precision and passion.
