Patrice Covington

Patrice Covington is a Grammy-nominated, Emmy Award-winning Broadway, television, and film actress, celebrated vocalist, voice-over artist, media personality, and dedicated arts educator. As a dynamic Broadway veteran, she has toured internationally in acclaimed Broadway productions including The Book of Mormon, Motown The Musical, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Dreamgirls, and the Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award-winning revival of The Color Purple. 

As a vocalist, Patrice has traveled the globe providing background vocals for Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, and Stevie Wonder. She has appeared with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Virginia Symphony, the American Pops Orchestra, and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Her top-rated cruise line concert experience, I’m Your Whitney Tonight, is consistently praised by audiences around the world for its power, soul, and unforgettable storytelling. 

On screen, Patrice is a series regular in Genius: Aretha, portraying Erma Franklin in the acclaimed National Geographic anthology. She recurred as Gracie in Amazon’s A League of Their Own and starred opposite Nicole Kidman in Netflix’s trending hit limited series The Perfect Couple. She has also recurred as a guest star on Chicago P.D. Patrice leads the BET feature film For What It’s Worth, where she brings depth, humor, and emotional dimension to the story’s heart. 

In addition to her work on stage and screen, Patrice is an accomplished voice-over artist whose voice has been featured in national McDonald’s campaigns, popular video game Red Dead Redemption and high-profile animated series Invincible. Her acting and vocal talent also appeared alongside Kenny G for a Busch Beer ad that was broadcast during a recent Super Bowl. 

Patrice is also the co-host alongside Chris Reckling, of The Hampton Roads Show, a weekday morning lifestyle program on WAVY TV 10, where she brings her warmth, joy, and love for her hometown community to audiences across Coastal Virginia and North Carolina    

She is a proud fiancé and honored to be a new Mother. She is the founder of The Galaxy Space, her audition-based performing arts studio, and serves on faculty at The Governor’s School for the Arts. Patrice is a very proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and is guided by her motto: “Don’t be a star… be a galaxy.” This message underpins her life's work—to shine boldly while making space for others to shine beside her, reminding all who encounter her that there is more than enough room for every voice, every story, and every light.
