Radetzky March
Composed in 1848, the Radetzky March is one of the most famous pieces of Austrian classical music. The march was originally written in honor of Field Marshal Joseph Radetzky von Radetz, a celebrated military leader in the Habsburg Empire. It has since become an unofficial national anthem, and its triumphant melodies encourage audience participation, especially during the Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year’s Eve Concert.
