Larry Zimmerman has had a life-long avocation as a musician (composer, pianist and music director). He is a retired U.S. Navy veteran and flew as a Naval Flight Officer in the E-2C Hawkeye. He directed the Naval Air Training Command Choir and was commissioned to write a piece for choir and orchestra. Zimmerman has a song cycle published by Transcontinental Music, has directed 5 musicals and written 2 musicals, and earned his Masters in Music Composition from George Mason University. Zimmerman is currently the president of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra (WSO) Board of Directors. He loves the musical activity and vibrancy of Wilmington (his home for the past 5 years), and he plans to grow the WSO to a premier orchestra respected throughout the country.
