Open Caption Performance

c2 pioneered and introduced live theatrical captioning for patrons with hearing loss and is responsible for launching theatre captioning programs around the country. They have collaborated with theatres nationwide, providing live on-site captioning, digital captioning, and subtitled captioning. Their work includes providing all the live open captioning on Broadway, and at off-Broadway theatres, Kennedy and Lincoln Centers, national performing arts venues and touring houses, and top-shelf regional Tony theatres, large and small, coast to coast. c2 remains dedicated to maintaining the artistic integrity and authentic experience of live theatre, ensuring that all audience members can enjoy the performance equally.

ASL Interpretation Performance

Al Raci (CI/CT) is pleased to be back at Writers Theatre interpreting for Translations. Past credits include Chicago Shakespeare Theatre at Navy Pier, Victory Gardens, The Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago's Children Theatre, Paramount Theater, Oil Lamp Theatre, Wheaton Drama, Athenaeum Theater, and The Chicago Lyric Opera. He works as a freelance interpreter in the Chicagoland area and brings a rich background of experience to the production of Dhaba on Devon Avenue. Al would like to thank WT for making accessibility possible here for the Deaf Community.


L.J. is honored to be interpreting Dhaba on Devon Avenue at Writers Theatre, marking her first production with the company. A seasoned Chicago-based interpreter, L.J. brings extensive experience in theatrical and live-event interpreting, including performances of The Miracle Worker and Phantom of the Opera as well as comedy shows and appearances by high-profile figures such as Oprah Winfrey, President George Bush, and Secretary Hillary Clinton. As a proud CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), L.J. is deeply grateful to her Deaf parents, whom she considers her greatest teachers and the foundation of her understanding of Deaf Culture.
