How long have you been playing your instrument?

Who was your mentor? Dr. Sarah Dunbar

What do you like about playing your instrument?

I like the versatility of the saxophone. While I can already play multiple styles of music

on one instrument alone, I can also switch reeds, mouthpieces, and types of

saxophones to create the sound that I want.

How long have you played in YSO?

3 years

What is your favorite thing about YSO?

The opportunity to work with other talented musicians and perform music that I

wouldn’t normally encounter in my school band or string orchestra.

What are your favorite types of music?

Classical, indie, rock, pop, rap, jazz, and metal. There aren’t many types of music that I

don’t like.

What is your favorite musical piece and/or your favorite composer?

My favorite composer is currently David Maslanka and my favorite piece is currently

the Maslanka Recitation Book.

What are your future career aspirations?

I hope to conduct physics research.

When did your musical interests begin and what were they?

I first became interested in music when I saw Lisa Simpson play the saxophone; at that

point I listened to more music and realized that I wanted to play the saxophone.

What clubs/organizations (in and out of school) do you belong to?

World Cube Association, Cubing Club, student tutoring, Texas Alliance for Minorities in

Engineering, Wichita Falls High School Band, Wichita Falls High School Orchestra,

Key Club, Academic UIL, National Honor Society, and Student Council.

Anything else that you want to share (what question do you wish I had asked that I have

not)?

I am very thankful for another opportunity to learn and progress as a musician.
