Adella

Adella is The Cleveland Orchestra's new online streaming service, launching in October 2020.  This platform offers you a variety of free and premium presentations and is named after the ensemble’s founder, Adella Prentiss Hughes, without whom we wouldn't be here today.

ADELLA DIGITAL STREAMING

Adella is available through most internet-enabled devices, either directly via an internet browser or as an app. You can access Adella — and, thus, In Focus — through a wide variety online platforms, including your favorite media streaming players and devices. These include Amazon Fire, Roku, Xbox, Apple, and Android, along with laptop computers and tablets, smart TVs and smartphones.

Adella offers a variety of free programming, including performances and behind-the-scenes videos, as well as premium content available only to members or for purchase.  Premium content includes In Focus concert broadcasts, created especially for subscribers and donors during the 2020-21 season when opportunities to experience The Cleveland Orchestra in person are more limited than usual.

WHO WAS ADELLA?

Cleveland-native Adella Prentiss Hughes grew up to be a music impresario and community leader.  In 1918, after managing a group that brought visiting orchestra's to Cleveland, she founded The Cleveland Orchestra, convinced that her hometown deserved a "great orchestra" of its own.  She served as the ensemble's general manager for fifteen seasons, with a clear vision for the institution she had created and for what its future could be.

It is for these reasons that we've named our new digital streaming service to honor her pioneering spirit. We hope that this 21st-century Adella will open a new chapter for The Cleveland Orchestra and carry this world-renowned ensemble toward a glorious and multimedia-connected world of the future.
