Ryan Bailey is a dancer and choreographer based in the DMV & NYC. Upon graduating with a BA in dance from UMBC in 2016 , Ryan was granted outstanding senior in choreography and dance after he was awarded an American College Dance Association Gala Finalist. He then furthered his education by attending training programs with dance companies in Chicago, NYC, LA, Portland, and Tel Aviv. In 2017 , Ryan premiered his company Pacing Bodies first evening length show funded by Earl and Darielle Linehan which premiered at UMBC. Ryan was featured on national television on season 14 of So You Think You Can Dance that same year. Ryan has danced professionally for MADBOOTS DANCE company on various projects and performances at Gibney Dance, New York Live Arts, and at the Joyce Theater in NYC. He has also had the opportunity to dance for Project 44 Dance Company, performing at the Jack Crystal Theater in NYC. Ryan has performed with Priore Dance directed by Robert Priore based in D. C. Ryan was also a background dancer for the music video “ Moons” by Micah Mc Laurin. Currently, Ryan teaches and choreographs dance at various studios, conservatories, and universities. Recently Ryan set work for Peabody Dance Conservatory and Howard County Dance Company. In the winter of 2024 , he will be featured as a dancer in a second evening length work for Haus of Pvmnt Dance Company in NYC at Abrons Art Center.
Forty+ Project is a rehearsal & performance project for movers ages 40 and over, Forty+ Project is open to people of all physical facilities. No previous performance experience is necessary, just a willingness to explore. Participate in a friendly collaborative atmosphere and gain benefits of movement, exercise and social connection with Forty+ Project, a program of Jane Franklin Dance.
Bennie Herron was born in San Diego, CA to a blue-collar family. He describes his upbringing as a challenging but fulfilling childhood rooted in unconditional love. The memories of his youth continue to be the undercurrent of his paintings, writings and social advocacy. Herron has an MFA in Creative Writing National University in San Diego, he has published three books of poetry, and has performed across the country. Additionally, Herron has had a career in the social service field for 25 years, working with a variety of communities, including public schools, prisons, and universities. He currently works with Fairfax County as a Father Engagement Specialist. He lives and works in Manassas, VA.
Gabriel Mata is a Mexican American dance choreographer, educator, and performer based in Washington DC. He received his Masters in Fine Arts - dance from the University of Maryland - College Park. Mata’ s dance works have been performed in California, New York, Minnesota, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Washington DC, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Additionally, his work has been presented at Stanford University, San José State University, Georgian Court University, Howard Community College, and American University. His dances have been commissioned by David Herrera Performance Company, the Queer Mvmnt Festival in San Diego, sj DANCEco, Charlotte Dance Festival, the Minnesota Fringe Festival, the Festival of Latin American Contemporary Choreographers, Silicon Valley Pride, the Hispanic National Bar Association, and Manuel Cuellar/Corazón Folklórico DC. Mata was recently awarded the Washington Award by S& R Evermay and nominated for the Sol Azteca Award for his artistry in the DC metropolitan area. Additionally, he has been awarded the Amplify Grant, DC Commission for the Arts and Humanities Fellowship Grant, DCCAH Performance, Events, and Festival Grant, and the Kennedy Center REACH Campus Office Hours Residency.
Robert J. Priore founded his company Priore Dance in the fall of 2016 . He is proud to be a founding member of Company | E. Robert is the Choreographer-in-Residence for the City Dance Conservatory as well as an Ignite Artist. Robert received a BFA in dance from Point Park University. Robert was a 2015 recipient of the John F. Kennedy Center Local Dance Commissioning Project and created a special work for Company | E, which as been presented in Russia, Azerbaijan, Cuba and most recently in Ukraine. In 2016 - 18 , Robert was named an outstanding fellow in the arts in the District of Columbia. In April of 2017 , Robert traveled to Holguin, Cuba to set an original work on the dancers of Co Danza and at the Vladimir Malakhov Grand Prix, the piece won the audience choice award. Priore Dance was chosen to perform at the Inside Out Stage at the prestigious Jacob’ s Pillow ( 2018 ) . In September 2018 , Robert returned to Holguin to present an excerpt of Cirque De Nuit for the Vladimir Malakhov Grand Prix. Robert was commissioned to create a work for the Mark Twain Prize Award Ceremony, nationally televised on PBS mid-November 2018 . Robert was awarded the Pola Nirenska Memorial Award in 2019 for outstanding contribution to art in the District of Columbia.
Chris Saunders ( he/him) is an artist who believes dance is an experience. That no matter where dance takes him, he will always grow from the journey that' s in his path. Originally from Fairfax Virginia, Chris earned his Bachlors of Fine Arts in Dance from Shenandoah University. Upon graduating college he performed at the theme park Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio and was a guest performer with the company Motion in Washington, DC. Christopher has recently worked for the company, RWS Entertainment Group in New York City, which has a partnership with Holland America Cruise Line. Where he has performed throughout the Mediterranean, Mexico, Panama, Asia, South America and Antarctica. Chris is currently back in Northern Virginia teaching and educating at local studios in the DMV.
Philip Baraoidan Native of Arlington County, Va, Philip Baraoidan is alumni of Virginia Commonwealth University. Performance Credits include Company E, Priore Dance, Sinclair Dance, and Clancyworks. Performance venue highlights include The Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, Ed Mervish Theater ( Canada), The Ballet Theater of Astana ( Kazakhstan) and Richmond Dance Festival. He has also taught for numerous programs like, Dance Masters of America, Showstoppers Convention, Central Asian Dance Festival, and American Dance Festival. Philip has received the Dottie Mc Gill Award from Dance Masters of America Teacher Training School, for showcasing excellence in teaching. Follow my adventures on IG: Philnthblnk
Ryan Carlough is a native of North Potomac, Maryland. Mr. Carlough began his dance training with City Dance where he had the opportunity to work closely with and perform works by the Gallim and Koresh Dance Company, as well as original choreographies by William Smith, Maleek Washington, and Robert J. Priore. He graduated from SUNY Purchase with a B. F. A. in Dance and a minor in Arts Management. While at SUNY Purchase, he had the pleasure to perform works by Jose Limon, George Balanchine, Doug Varone, Kimberly Bartosik, and original works by Gregory Dolbashian and Shannon Gillen. Since graduating he has worked and performed with Company E, Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company, Chamber Dance Project, State Street Ballet, Priore Dance, S. J. Ewing & Dancers, and I . C. Movement Project.
Michala Conroy first started out as a competitive gymnast before studying dance at Pittsburgh CAPA. Michala joined the pre-professional company, Reed Dance I I , in Pittsburgh, PA where she worked with Greer Reed, Antonio Brown, and Daniel Karasik. She received a scholarship to George Mason University ( GMU) where she pursued her B. F. A. in Dance with a Pre-Medicine track. While at George Mason, Michala had the honor of participating in residencies and performing works by Rafael Bonachela, Hope Boykin, and Alejandro Cerrudo. She also shared multiple choreographic works during her time at GMU. Michala is currently dancing in the DMV area with Gin Dance Company and Jane Franklin Dance while also pursuing freelance work. When she is not dancing, Michala teaches dance and works as a Communication and Regulation Partner for nonspeaking/minimally-speaking autistics.
Kelsey Rohr started studying dance at Richmond Ballet through their public outreach program. She later graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas with a BFA in Dance and minor in Women’ s and Gender Studies. She went on to dance with Joshua L. Peugh’ s Dark Circles Contemporary Dance and then worked in Geneva, Switzerland with Ballet Junior de Genève and Guilherme Botelho’ s Alias Dance Company. She has performed works by Sharon Eyal, Barak Marshall, Angelin Preljocaj, and Roy Assaf. Currently, she enjoys dancing with Company E in D. C. and Jane Franklin Dance in Arlington.
Domenique Ross is a graduate of Howard University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts. During her time at Howard, she has performed at the International Association of Blacks in Dance Conference, interned at the Washington Ballet, and served as Vice President for the Fine Arts Council. She has had professional experience dancing on Netflix' s show “ Archive 81 ” fi lmed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Domenique has worked with professional choreographers such as Christopher Huggins, Tommie Waheed, Desmond Richarson, Hope Boykin and many more.
Amy Scaringe graduated with a BFA from Towson University in 2008 . Since then she has had the pleasure i f working with Misako Ballet Company, Dissonance Dance Theatre, Wayles Haynes, alight dance theatre, as well as Jane Franklin Dance. She also is currently practicing bikram yoga and taking class at Maryland Youth Ballet.
Kevin White began dancing at age 14 at the Putney Summer Arts Program and trained at the Dance Institute of Washington throughout high school. He is trained in various dance styles including ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop and West African. Kevin studied modern dance as a minor at Kent State University, where he also led Legacy hip hop team. Post Grad Kevin has danced professionally for Taurus Broadhurst, Maverick Lemons, Dayo N Dance and The Black leaves project as assistant director. He has been performed on many stages in the DC area including the Kennedy Center’ s Millennium Stage and at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. Kevin has taught modern, broadway jazz, Afro house and many other styles to youth and adults in studios including Joy of Motion and citidance POP! He is most passionate about his work in many of the DMV’ s after school programs offering quality arts experiences.
Jane Franklin Dance partners with music, media, visual artists and community participants. A vibrant part of the Washington DC/Northern Virginia cultural community, Jane Franklin Dance has been presented at multiple regional venues, Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, Atlas Performing Arts Center, festivals and internationally in Mexico. A recipient of the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region Creative Communities Award, Jane has developed innovative and collaborative projects combining dancers with: the round-wall skateboarding community, with a li fe size kinetic sculpture, with the architecture of a specific site, with dogs & owners, and with interactive live video and sound for numerous public art projects. Most recently, JFD was awarded Artist in Residency by the Alexandria Commission & Office of the Arts for Site See, an outdoor installation in Waterfront Park. Jane Franklin is a recipient of the American Association of University Women Elizabeth Campbell Award for the Advancement of the Arts in Arlington, and her video work Four Mile Run Footbridge was selected for PHOTO/VIDEO 13 : Juried Mid-Atlantic Exhibition. Jane Franklin Dance has been recognized by the Virginia’ s Governor’ s Award for Excellence in the Arts. The company tours for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Paul Mellon Arts in Education Program and the Virginia Commission’ s Tour Directory.
Collaborative projects have received funding in multiple years from the Virginia Commission, the Alexandria Commission Special Opportunity Awards and Artist Residency Program, and the Arlington Commission for the Arts, American Composers Forum – Washington DC Chapter and from foundations including Arlington Community Foundation and Washington Forrest Foundation. Forty+ and workshops for older adults provide adult dance programming such as free healthy movement workshops at senior centers, classes for active older adults and rare performance opportunities for dancers over age 40 . Performances for children delight young audiences with physical story-telling. Camps and after school programs provide intensive learning in movement, theater and visual art.

NVFAA at the Athenaeum partners with Jane Franklin Dance to produce live streamed performances that feature dances responding to visual art. The NVFAA provides in-kind support including facilitating collaborations with Athenaeum visual artists, marketing, and providing rehearsal space at the Athenaeum.
