JESSIE NELSON (Book) wrote, directed, and produced I Am Sam starring Sean Penn, who received an Academy Award nomination for his performance and Corrina Corrina (which she developed at the Sundance labs).  Jessie co-created and directed the series Little Voice with Sara Bareilles for Bad Robot and Apple TV. Among her other directing credits are “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and Love, the Coopers with Diane Keaton. Her writing credits include Step Mom, Because I Said So and The Story of Us directed by Rob Reiner.  She wrote the musical Waitress with Sara Bareilles . It was the first Broadway musical created by an all-female team and ran for four years.  Jessie directed Alice by Heart, which she co-wrote with Steven Sater with music by Duncan Sheik at the National Theater Connections Program in London and again at MCC in NYC.  This year she will direct the premiere of Chadwick Stokes Folk Rock Opera 1972 and the film Norma with June Squib and Jessica Gunning.  She began her career as an actress at the Public Theater working with the experimental theater Mabou Mines and acting with the New York Shakespeare Festival. She also co wrote the children’s book Labracadabra. She is producing Brown Baby written by Nikesh Shukula and Himesh Patel.  She has been the artistic director of the Sundance Labs Writers Lab.

ADRIENNE SHELLY (Film). We celebrate Adrienne Shelly as the writer of the 2007 film Waitress. An actor (Trust) and director (Waitress, I’ll Take You There, Sudden Manhattan) for almost 20 years, she conceived the film while pregnant with her daughter Sophie (Lulu in the film), for whom she wrote it as a “love letter” in just two weeks. Adrienne’s legacy includes The Adrienne Shelly Foundation, created after she died in 2006 to support Women Filmmakers. It’s awarded 65+ production grants to talented women all over the world. NADIA DIGIALLONARDO (Original Music Supervision & Arrangements) supervises companies of Waitress worldwide. Previous Broadway credits include Real Women Have Curves, and revivals of Hair and Pippin. Upcoming projects include Wanted on Broadway, Sara Bareilles’s new musical, The Interestings, at Berkeley Rep, and New York Theatre Workshop’s Wild Rose. Nadia graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Vassar with a degree in Urban Planning.

With Sara Bareilles, the band engaged in a deeply collaborative process to create the arrangements for the Waitress score. APEX TOURING, LLC (General Management) is the producer of the current tour of Waitress, being presented by Waitress B&T Touring LLC. Now in its tenth tour season, APEX has produced recent national tours which include Chicago, Hairspray, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, Once and Finding Neverland. APEX was honored to be the first company to bring a live production to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Middle East with the international tour of The Wizard of Oz, which also performed across China. WILLIAM T. PRATHER (CEO) is the CEO and founder of APEX Touring. He is a second-generation theatre producer following in the footsteps of his parents, Tom and Debbie Prather, who produced live theatre for over 60 years. A graduate of the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University, he returned to the family business in 1993 after spending a couple of years in the corporate world. As an Executive Producer, Prather has worked on successful tours including Footloose, The Wedding Singer, BLAST, Fiddler on the Roof, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Memphis and Million Dollar Quartet.
