EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S WELCOME
CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH?
Every once in a while, a specific phrase from a play or film enter the general lexicon of our language. (Watch the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special to be reminded of many such phrases.)
With A Few Good Men, "Can you handle the truth?" became a very popular saying among the general public. Almost universally, when I mention the show to friends and patrons, some reference is made to that phrase.
At this particular time in our nation's history it is more important than ever to not just handle the truth but to seek it out. Regardless of your particular political ideology, finding the truth is the most important thing we can do in order to active participants in our representative democracy.
My thought for the day: handle the truth and spread it.
As we head into the spring season, we have ANYTHING GOES, A JUKEBOX FOR THE ALGONQUIN, and THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL plus a concert by Frank Mastrone and comedy nights by Michael "Motts" Pelazza on tap for you. Very soon we'll announce our 2025-2026 season, so be on the look out for that information.
As always, our current Flex Pass Subscribers will have first dibs at booking seats for the next season.
We'll have a very special event in May starring a very funny girl who recently made a big splash n Broadway - watch our newsletter for details.

Peter Barbieri, Jr. (Set Design) Peter has been a theatre professional since 1979. He is our Associate Artistic Director and was the founding director of our outdoor, summer Shakespeare on the Green. Peter’s work has been seen both here and abroad. Broadway credits include technical direction of the Tony Award-winning revivals of Cabaret and A View From The Bridge. Overseas, his work was seen as far as Shanghai, China and he designed the sets for the Danish production of Cats. Peter directed our productions of Titanic, Twelve Angry Men, To Kill A Mockingbird, Macbeth, The Producers, A View From The Bridge and Romeo & Juliet. For many years, he was a member of Rehabilitation Through the Arts, a non-profit organization that works in the prison system of the State of NY. He directed their productions of Macbeth, Twelve Angry Men and their first musical, West Side Story in Sing Sing Prison. Peter and his wife, Julia, live in Fairfield with their son, Peter III and daughter, Miranda.
Katie Carriero (Stage Manager) is a local stage manager/director/sometimes actor. She is the producer of the local traveling improv troupe, ClueDunnit?!?, and is probably working on something else as we speak. She’s a big Sorkin fan and this has been a great experience. Thanks to Deb and the cast and crew!
Debra Lee Failla (Director) is familiar to Curtain Call audiences having directed Assassins, I Hate Hamlet, Rent, Noises Off and Catch-22, among many others. Her other directing credits include award winning productions of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, Next to Normal and The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged) for which she won the TANYS Award for Excellence in Directing. Deb would like to thank her dedicated production staff and talented cast whose hard work made this production possible, and as always, my love and my heart go to RJ and John who let me do the work that feeds my soul.
Scott Ferrara (Military Advisor) Scott’s very first appearance on stage was in Curtain Call’s 2009 production of the Wizard of Oz, and he never looked back! Since then, he has appeared in Curtain Call’s Shakespeare in Love, Newsies, The Tempest, Catch 22, Hello Dolly, 1776, Titanic, Goodbye Girl, Legally Blond, Les Miserables, Wizard of Oz (2014), Tommy, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Annie, and The Foreigner. Scott was also in Bridgeport Theater Company’s The Music Man, as part of the singing quartet. He most recently appeared in Young Frankenstein. When not appearing on stage, Scott’s passion for the theater spreads to working on crew to support his fellow actors. Scott is extremely thankful to Deb for trusting him in this role. As always, a big THANK YOU to his lobster for her never ending support. BREAK LEGS ALL!!!
Carol Foley (Assistant Stage Manager) has been an usher, Props Mistress, Assistant Stage Manager, Stage Manager and general backstage crew on too many productions to mention. She’s even graced the stage once in Follies. She loves how each show teaches her something new. With A Few Good Men, she was reminded of the important work our military provides every day. To those who serve and who have served, Thank you.
Tom Gordon (Costume Design) Tom has been involved in theatre since high school. Most recently, he has worked as part of wardrobe at Downtown Cabaret in Bridgeport for several shows including We Will Rock You, Cabaret, Rent, Decades in Concert,The 60’s and Decades in Concert, the 70’s”. Tom was the Costume Designer for Seven Angels A Bronx Tale, Elf, George & Gracy as well as Grumpy Old Men. He spent over 10 years building sets and costuming at Maloney High School where he is a Technology Education teacher. This is Tom's first show here at Curtain Call.
Jamie LaJoie (Lighting Design) Jamie started working in theatre in 2006 as a sound designer for The Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope PA. After working with numerous different regional and equity theatres he was able to expand his skill sets to include master carpenter and lighting designer. Some of his favorite sound designs are Miss Saigon, Sweeny Todd, Tommy and Jekyll and Hyde (which he received a nomination for best Sound Designer for a musical). Some of his favorite lighting designs are Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Suessical the Musical, Jekyll and Hyde (Which he received a NEPTA award for best lighting design for a musical) All this knowledge has allowed him to be the Technical Director here at Curtain Call. Jamie is now the Technical Director for King School and teaches Technical Theatre classes there as well. As always a special thank you to my wife Meghan and my beautiful little girl Savannah. Daddy loves you.
John Zimmerman (Sound Design) John is thrilled to be working on another this terrific show after recently Stage Managing our recent Mulberry Street production. For most of the past twelve years whenever there was a Mulberry Street, one of the Zimmerman girls were involved. When they moved away from home and I was elated to take up the mantle in 2018. Thank you to the talented cast and amazing production team for making this another memorable production.
