Welcome

DISASTER: an event or fact that has unfortunate consequences.

If one word could be used for the theatre industry over the past two and a half years, I think disaster fits perfectly. (That's not to say I'm not incredibly grateful and humbled by all the support we've received that enabled us to survive!)

From our initial closure on March 13, 2020, through numerous starts and stops, limited capacities, health challenges within our casts and budget challenges, each element has been a disaster of its own. But here we are now with a DISASTER we can all laugh about.

Those of us who lived through the 1970s and 80s remember the spate of movies that included: The Poseidon Adventure, Earthquake, Tidal Wave, Avalanche and so many others. And when we weren’t at the movies, we were dancing to “Still the One”, “Saturday Night”, or even “Three Times a Lady” just to mention a few.

It took Seth Rudetsky and Jay Plotnick to mix those songs and movies coming up with the zany send up we have for you today. And I have to say, the sheer size of this show and its many technical aspects could have easily been a disaster, but with the cast, crew and production team we have, it has been a joy.

I have to admit that I am, for the first time in 22 years here, glad to be putting the season to bed. It has been exhausting in ways too numerous to mention. But I’m excited about our summer season of Shakespeare’s MEASURE FOR MEASURE and the classic 1950s Broadway smash, THE PAJAMA GAME.

I’m even more excited about our new season starting in September when I am thrilled to say that six of the shows we have on tap for you have never played here at Sterling Farms!!! As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Kweskin Theatre, the first show here in late September is the musical CABARET, one of the shows playing here for the first time, and whose movie version also opened 50 years ago. Our full season listing is in this program – hard copies and order forms are available in the lobby.

Thanks again for being here, and enjoy the show.
