Welcome
Death and taxes...the two things that we know are for certain in this life.
And as sure as those things are, we know that popular shows will come back. So here we are with The Cemetery Club, back for the first time in about 25 years.

When I first saw The Cemetery Club 32 years ago, I was taken by the relationships. Yes, it certainly reminded me of the TV show "The Golden Girls" which had been on the air a few years before this play. Whether or not the show inspired the author is unknown, but what is known is that Ivan Menchell (author) was only 29 at the time when he wrote this, his first play.

Studies have shown that married people live longer, as do people who live with friends and/or stay connected to friends and family.  And while the title of the play may not sound that inviting, the idea that these three long-time friends who shared their lives with each other there would find comfort in visiting their husbands' graves on a regular basis together. The importance of maintaining friendships is one key to longevity...I think it's a factor in my nearly 101-year old mom's life.

As we head into the holiday season, I really hope you'll join us for our next big musical, She Loves Me, playing in the Kweskin Theatre starting next month. It is one of the several shows this season that has never been performed here and has been one of my all-time favorites for years - in fact, it was my first professional contract! Written by Bock & Harnick who brought us Fiorello, Fiddler on the Roof, The Rothschilds and many more, this charming and romantic musical comedy is based on a story you may be familiar with. If you've seen the films "You've Got Mail," "The Shop Around The Corner," or "In the Good Old Summertime," you know the story of two employees at the same store who seemingly hate each other while falling in love with each other as anonymous pen pals.

For now, enjoy The Cemetery Club.
