WELCOME TO THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY PREMIERE OF BEAUTIFUL!
"Here life is beautiful...the girls are beautiful...even the orchestra is beautiful!"
Oops, that's an opening line from last year's first Kweskin musical, CABARET, but somehow, it's amazingly appropriate right now as we offer, BEAUTIFUL, THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL.
Having grown up in the 60s and 70s, I knew almost every song in this show from long ago, so it has been a challenge not to sing along throughout the rehearsal process. (I promise not to sing now, too!)
I admit that when the show first opened in NYC, I didn't really care to see another jukebox musical, but when I eventually did see BEAUTIFUL, I loved it. I really knew nothing of Carole's life story - or that of the many other people that are part of her life and the music industry. I hope you find it as enjoyable and interesting as I did.
As we kick off another season here in The Kweskin, we do so on the heels of recovery from the pandemic, so we're really glad to have you here. Our trending numbers make me cautiously optimistic that maybe we'll finish this season closer to "normal" at last. And with dozens more events for you to enjoy with us, I hope to see you here regularly.
However, since we're a nonprofit theatre, and since recent changes in funding at the State level have left us with a significant shortfall, we need to hedge our bets and have added a new special event for October 16: BROADWAY SALUTES CURTAIN CALL! This night of great food and drink at the Stamford Italian Center will feature performances by Broadway and Off-Broadway veterans - many of who are Curtain Call alums. I really hope you can join us ... full details are available by clicking here.
Besides this great new special event, I'm very excited about our upcoming productions, including THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE - A LIVE RADIO PLAY and many, many more. Remember, if you purchased a single ticket to this performance, you may apply that value to any of our discounted Flex Pass subscriptions. Check with the Box Office for details.
Thanks so much for being here...enjoy the show!
