HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I know that by the time you read this, you’ll likely have gotten used to writing 24 instead of 23, but please indulge me.
The New Year brings great promise - 365 chances to do something wonderful. In our case, it's a full year to create great art through the collaborative process of theatre. Hundreds of amazing volunteers will join us and that's one of the things that makes my job so fulfilling.
Starting the new year with a musical comedy like Spelling Bee seemed like the perfect thing for the dark days of January. While I’ve never participated in a bee, I do love words. It’s a show that we’ve talked about for a long time – in fact, it was scheduled for September of 2020: good things come to those who wait, I guess!
Planning this season – another one with post-pandemic issues still haunting us – was a challenge, but I think the shows we have on tap thru June bring something for everyone: a classic comedy, a fabulous murder mystery and two, big, well-loved musicals. Check our listing here in the program then book your seats.
Looking ahead to September 2024 – the beginning of my 25th season here – we have some ideas already, but we always look to you, our loyal friends and fans, for input. Keep an eye out for our annual audience survey.
For now, put your dictionary aside and let the cast show off how smart they are – when an author gave them the answers! I look forward to seeing you here again soon.
Sincerely,
Lou Ursone
