Innig, Op. 56, No. 4
Robert Schumann, 1845
Leader: Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.
Circle: The Lord will speak peace to the faithful, to those who turn to God in their hearts.
Leader: Surely salvation is at hand for those who fear the Lord, and God’s glory will dwell in our land.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
tune: Nicaea
(James Bacchus Dykes 1861)
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty,
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns
around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
who wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name
in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty,
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity! Amen!
Reginald Heber, c. 1820, altered
Leader: The truth about us is this:
we all sin and fall short of the glory of God.
Yet God promises to pour out grace upon us,
giving us confidence to show ourselves as we are
and be freed from shame.
Trusting in God’s mercy,
let us confess our sin before God and one another.
All:
Ever faithful God,
how often we turn away from you,
yet you remain constant to us.
We run from you, but you call us back.
In our words and our deeds we dishonor you,
yet you still profess your love for us.
We cut ourselves off from you and from others,
but you will not let us go.
Forgive our faithless and fickle ways
and increase our gratitude,
that we might grow in faithfulness to you,
for the sake of Jesus Christ,
in whose name we pray.
Amen.
Leader:
Hear the good news!
When you were buried with Christ in baptism,
you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God.
By that power we are made clean and set free
to live in gratitude and love with zeal.
As you have received Christ Jesus
continue to live your lives in him,
rooted and built up in him and abounding in thanksgiving.
Be Still, for the Presence of the Lord
David J. Evans,
arr. Indra Hughes, 2001
Be still for the presence of the Lord,
the Holy One is here,
come bow before him now
with reverence and fear.
In him no sin is found,
we stand on holy ground,
be still for the presence of the Lord,
the Holy One is here.
Be still for the glory of the Lord
is shining all around,
he burns with holy fire:
with splendor he is crowned.
How awesome is the sight,
our radiant King of Light,
be still for the glory of the Lord
is shining all around.
Be still for the power of the Lord
is moving in this place,
he comes to cleanse and heal,
to minister his grace,
no work too hard for him:
in faith receive from him,
be still for the power of the Lord
is moving in this place. Amen.
-David J. Evans, 1986
Good and gracious God…
O God, on this day we offer special intercessions for…
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our
trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
How Great Thou Art
O store Gud
Stuart K. Hine, 1949
O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
consider all the works thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
When through the woods and forest glades I wander
and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
and hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze:
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,
sent him to die, I scarce can take it in.
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
he bled and died to take away my sin:
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
and there proclaim, “My God, how great thou art!”
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
-Stuart K. Hine, 1953
As we wait for the coming of God’s reign,
we answer the invitation to take part in God’s work,
bringing our tithes and offerings
with joyful gratitude.
Amen.
Lord, you are the giver of every good gift.
Accept these offerings we pray,
that through them we may do justice,
and love kindness
and walk humbly with you,
our Sovereign and our God.
Amen.
Let the People Praise Thee, O God
William Mathias, 1981
Let the people praise thee, O God:
yea, let all the people praise thee.
O let the nations rejoice and be glad:
for thou shalt judge the folk righteously,
and govern the nations upon earth.
Then shall the earth bring forth her increase:
and God, even our own God,
shall give us his blessing.
God shall bless us:
and all the ends of the world shall fear him.
God be merciful unto us, and bless us:
and shew us the light of his countenance,
and be merciful unto us.
That thy way may be known upon earth:
thy saving health among all nations.
Let the people praise thee, O God,
yea, let all the people praise thee.
O let the nations rejoice and be glad.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son
and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be:
world without end. Amen.
-Psalm 67

Praise God all creatures here below,
Praise God above ye heavenly host,
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

“Who is God, and Who are We Because of God?”
Psalm 82
Rev. John C. Dorhauer, Preacher
Lasst uns erfreuen
Geistliche Kirchengesäng, 1623
All creatures of our God and King,
lift up your voice and with us sing,
Alleluia! Alleluia!
O brother sun with golden beam,
O sister moon with silver gleam,
sing praises, sing praises!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
O brother wind with clouds and rain,
you nurture gifts of fruit and grain,
Alleluia! Alleluia!
O sister water, flowing clear,
make music for your Lord to hear.
Sing praises, sing praises!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
O brother fire, so warm and bright,
chase off the shadows of the night.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Dear mother earth, who day by day
unfolds such blessings on our way,
sing praises, sing praises!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
O sisters, brothers, take your part,
and worship God with humble heart.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
All creatures, bless the Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit, Three in One!
Sing praises, sing praises!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
-Francis of Assisi, 1225, tr. composite
May the grace of Christ attend you,
the love of God surround you,
and the Holy Spirit keep you,
this day and forevermore. Amen.
