Elizabeth S. Lenna Hall

Gloria Cheng presents a vivid panoply of “American” music, including two passionate Valsa by Brazilian composer Adelaide Pereira da Silva, works written for Gloria by John Williams and Randy Newman for her celebrated MONTAGE: Great Film Composers and the Piano project, and loving Garlands for Steven Stucky honoring the late NY-based composer. Wildly colorful works from Zhou Long and Stephen Andrew Taylor, David Lang’s most recent piano piece, and free-jazz-infused pieces by James Newton, Wang Lu and Anthony Cheung round out this sumptuous feast of recent music.
