My Best Friends Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which was founded to raise money and provide support for those that need it while fighting cancer, and to provide support for families who have lost someone to cancer. This Foundation was created out of tragedy but with one goal – to be a Friend to anyone dealing with cancer.
Early in the Covid pandemic, our founder, Megan Wittig, lost her husband to cancer. 10 years earlier, she lost her best friend to breast cancer. She chose hope over grief and started this foundation to help those impacted by cancer. When her husband was diagnosed with melanoma, he chose to make everyday count – in some way. This idea is the basis of the vision of our Foundation.
Making each day count through acts of kindness to support those impacted by cancer.
Our Mission is simple: To cultivate friendships and build a community to serve those impacted by cancer with personal, emotional, and/or financial support throughout their journey.
The assistance that we can give to families can be essential in their journey. If you want to refer someone, please fill out a referral form

We respectfully acknowledge that the College of Lake County is on the ancestral homelands of the Kickapoo, Peoria, Potawatomi and other native peoples. We recognize the longstanding significance of these lands for indigenous peoples past, present and future. Historical awareness of indigenous exclusion and erasure is critically important to preventing further atrocities. The College of Lake County pledges to acknowledge the grave injustices of the past and pledges to create awareness and advance education that invites truth.
