Peter O’Neill is a retired pastor and now aspiring playwright, who hopes to bring Biblical stories to life in new and exciting ways for the theater world. PRAYZ is the product of his theological background and musical talents, merging into one big celebration through the performing arts. The sound of this play reflects a variety of traditional chants, hymns, and contemporary worship, all coming together in a R&B, jazz-pop fusion, which retells the Greatest Story ever told in a “not so conventional,” high energy performance. He hopes everyone who attends will blessed by the music and the message.
From the very first time I stepped into the Thomaston Opera House, I felt it was a magical place. A place where ideas and words could become a celebration of song and inspiration. From a writer's page to an actor's voice, new worlds were opened, new friends were made and each close of the curtain was only soon to become the beginning of a new story. Tonight we share such a story... one that starts at the very beginning of time. It is essentially a Love Story at heart and that is what brought me to be a part of this incredible journey. I first have to thank Peter O'Neill for this wonderful creation. It's a reflection of his wisdom, kindness and unshakable faith. Next, I have to offer a standing ovation to our amazing cast. Without their enthusiasm, creativity, dedication and talent, this show would not be possible. There are so many who have been working into the night and behind the scenes, painting sets, creating costumes, building stages and managing everything needed to share this production with you tonight and to share this simple, beautiful message- that God loves you! So get ready to lift up your voices and lift up your hands as we proudly present the very first stage premiere of PRAYZ!
