Get ready to move as the Modlin Center for the Arts welcomes the powerhouse sounds of Kadencia Orchestra for a special Family Arts Day performance!
Founded in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, and proudly calling Richmond home since 2018, Kadencia is dedicated to preserving and elevating Afro-Puerto Rican musical traditions. In this high-energy single set, the orchestra will deliver a captivating blend of original Bomba, Plena, and Salsa. Melding heavy-hitting traditional percussion with a blistering, dynamic brass section, Kadencia’s award-winning rhythms and narrative songwriting capture the rich stories of the Puerto Rican experience.
Whether you are introducing your family to these historic rhythms for the first time or looking to dance the afternoon away, this performance promises an unforgettable celebration of culture, community, and pure musical energy.

Our Modlin Arts Presents series celebrates 30 years this season. To mark the occasion and provide something tangible and complimentary for our patrons, we brought the brilliant graphic designer Brent McCormick into the fold.
Inspired by Reid Miles and the typography-led language of classic Blue Note covers, Brent built our commemorative season poster around a bold 30.
As you make your way out after a Modlin Arts Presents performance this year, be sure to pick up your red 30th anniversary season poster. We encourage you to share a photo on social media of how you end up displaying the poster. Be sure to tag us on Instagram and Facebook!
