Taber Gable

Taber Gable recently graduated from The Juilliard School, Taber Gable has been called on to play, tour, alongside many great musicians such as.. Marcus/E.J.Strickland, Terrace Martin, Trevor Lawrence, Jonathan Barber, Braxton Cook, and many more! 

Gable is a highly sought after musician in the New York jazz scene as well as internationally known for his cross-genre abilities and captivating live performance style.

 

Rob Linton

Rob Linton is a versatile bassist and improviser of many genres from Charlotte, NC. After completing his Masters degree in Studio Music and Jazz at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Rob has had the privilege of performing with many great musicians including Greg Tardy, Eric Reed, Kenneth Brown, Rod McGaha, Mark Boling, Keith Brown, Taber Gable, Ocie Davis, Louis Heriveaux and many others. Rob currently teach jazz bass at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Matías Pedrana

Matías Pedrana began his musical studies in his native Argentina at the age of 13, later entering the National University of Rosario to study classical flute. In the year 2000 he moved to Europe to continue his career as a musician, picking up the bandoneón as a new instrument and receiving his degree from the Rotterdam conservatorium-The Netherlands. 

He has shared the stage and performed with many well-known artists and ensembles such as: "Orquesta Tipica OTRA", "Guardia Cadenera", "Nueva Manteca", "Motion Unlimited Cinematic Orchestra", "Het Gelders Orkest", "Tango Extremo", "Ben Van Den Dungen", "Grupo del Sur", "Hernan Ruiz". He has toured around the world and played in many important festivals: "Aruba Jazz Festival", "Barquisimeto Jazz Festival", "Den Haag Jazz Festival", "Dublin Tango Festival", "Grachten festival", among others. 

He is currently member of "José Lopretti ensemble" and the quintet "Grupo del Sur", performing in well known theaters and festivals through all The Netherlands. He has participated in CD productions by Gotan Project "Gotan project Live", "Toujours Bizarre" by Tango Extremo and "Ser" by Isa Bornau. Recently he has recorded a CD with the quintet "Grupo del Sur" called: "Inspiración", performing the music of Astor Piazzolla as well as arrangements made by members of the group. The CD was recorded live at the Concertgebow in Amsterdam.

 

Jorge Variego

Jorge Variego was born in Rosario, Argentina. He is a former Fulbright Scholar and is currently on the Music Theory/Composition faculty at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and is the composition program director at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival.

Actively involved with technology in sound and music, Jorge has been a pioneer in the field of interactive computer music, having created and performed a great deal of works for clarinet and electronics in the US, Europe and South America. He participated in many international music festivals such as MATA, SEAMUS, EMS, Sonoimagenes, Holland Festival, Festival de Jazz de Vigo, Via Stellae, ICMC and Big Ears. His music can be heard in the Parma, Albany Records, CMMAS, Centaur and Naxos libraries.

In 2017 he was named Mentor of the year in the College of Fine Arts and Sciences, Performing Arts division at the University of Tennessee. In 2018 his book on algorithmic composition was released by the National University of Quilmes, in Argentina. During that same year he received the support of the Swedish Arts Grants Committee to be resident composer at the Visby Centre for Composers and was guest lecturer at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, in Spain. His recent agenda involved works for the Indiana University guitar ensemble, the Orchester Liestal, the Cumberland Orchestra, the Knoxville Symphony, the Oark Ridge Symphony and Chorus with premieres scheduled in the US and Europe. Among his recent research endeavors, his book “Composing with Constraints” was published by Oxford University Press in 2021.

Jorge is the founder director of the Domino Ensemble a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, commission, and performance of new music with improvisation. The group released its first album “Purple Ego” (Centaur) in 2019 and the EP “Drunken Raccoon” in 2020. With the support of the Nora Roberts Foundation and the Tennessee Arts Commission, the ensemble has lead a number of educational workshops and commissioned and premiered many works by young composers.

He is also the founder director of the UT Electroacoustic Ensemble, a student group dedicated to free improvisation with electronic media and is member of the Society of Composers National Council.
