Oakland Symphony presents

THE MUSIC OF JOHN WILLIAMS
MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!

Thursday, May 4, 2023 ∙ 8 pm
Paramount Theatre, Oakland

Welcome from the Executive Director

Happy May the Fourth (be with you!) and welcome to the Paramount Theatre, the present home of the Oakland Symphony. For many of you, this is your first encounter with the orchestra.

In its programming and performance, the Oakland Symphony reflects the values of this dynamic and diverse community. Six concerts are presented each season, along with the holiday special “Let Us Break Bread Together,” and special community concerts. The region’s citizens comprise the Oakland Symphony Chorus and the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra, which in the coming weeks will be touring Europe, taking their Oakland-rooted sound global.

So, we are all delighted to welcome you tonight. The coming 2023-24 season has just been announced, and details are available in the lobby. Please pick up a brochure.

If you are energized by this evening’s concert, I invite you to return in the fall and again throughout the coming season for the very special experience of attending an Oakland Symphony concert.

Sincerely,
Dr. Mieko Hatano, Executive Director
