A Note From Ramsey Theatre Company Producing Artistic Director, Diane DiCroce

Welcome to Ramsey Theatre Company's production of The Wizard of Oz. It has been a privilege to both Direct and Produce this spectacular musical for our resident professional theater company. There is no place quite like our home here at the SKYPAC in Bowling Green and we are proud to share our journey with you at this performance.

When I first watched the classic movie version of this timeless story, I remember my mother telling me how amazing it was to see the film for the first time when she was a young girl back in 1939. She talked about how breathtaking it was the moment that Dorothy stepped out of her house, transported to Munchkinland, into a world filled of technicolor, which at the time was a major technological advancement. It made the impossible seem possible and brought all the colors of our world to the big screen.

For this Ramsey Theatre Company production, we are also leaping forward with technological advancements. In this production we are incorporating effects that the Wizard himself would surely be proud of with the use of projections, puppetry, pyrotechnics, flying actors, live-feeding video as well as pre-recorded and specialty edited video elements. All of this with a gorgeous score played by our own Orchestra Kentucky musicians and beautifully acted by a Company of 39 actors, including 15 Youth Ensemble actors making their professional debut right here with us at RTC. All these new and exciting elements propel Dorothy’s beautiful journey on the Yellow Brick Road to capture the heart, courage and brilliance found in each and every one of us.

As Wizard of Oz concludes our second season for the Ramsey Theatre Company, we are excited to officially announce our upcoming third season (2025-26) of RTC shows which are part of the SKYPAC's Greenwood Ford Lincoln Broadway Series!

We will be starting with The Best Gift: A Christmas Carol Musical. This is an original musical adaptation of the classic Christmas story that is sure to become part of the SKYPAC’s, and Bowling Green's, annual holiday tradition. Newly written for Ramsey Theatre Company and adapted by Dick and Mel Tunney (Grammy and mulit-Dove award-winning songwriting team) this show is filled with heartwarming music, Broadway-style dancing and is suitable for all who love this classic tale.

Next up will be Steel Magnolias. A play the tests the bonds of friendship and love with Southern charm, humor, and strength. Filled with all the characters you know and love from the movie, we'll bring  Truvy's Beauty Shop to life right here on our stage.

We will be rounding out our season with Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Adapted from the animated Disney future with music by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid) this is a show that is sure to please the entire family.

And rounding out our Broadway Series will be the national tours of the Tony award-winning musicals Chicago and Hadestown making a stop right here at the SKYPAC.

We are beyond thrilled to launch our third season with you and want to encourage you to subscribe now (call or visit or box office) to secure the best seats and let the magic of live theater sweep you up and carry you to all these magical destinations right here at home at the SKYPAC. Your  home for live, professional Broadway theater right here in Bowling Green.
