About Ramsey Theatre Company

The Ramsey Theatre Company was formed through a generous gift from Robert P. Ramsey to produce professional-level theatre to serve the BRADD area. The Rita and Jim Scott Concert Hall at SKYPAC serves as its primary home. Auditions are conducted nationally through online submissions, as well as in-person auditions in New York City and at the United Professional Theatre Auditions in Memphis, TN. Auditions for our musicals for locally and regionally based actors are held in-person at the SKYPAC. Orchestra Kentucky takes the place of honor in the Robin and David Ciochetty orchestra pit.

Remembering Mr. Robert P. Ramsey-

We're Forever Grateful.

Welcome!

From Producing Artistic Director, Diane DiCroce

Welcome to Ramsey Theatre Company's production of "Steel Magnolias"! RTC is SKYPAC’s professional resident theatre company. With this show, which is our second production of our 3rd season, we reach new milestones in producing live theater for Bowling Green and the South Central Kentucky region by bringing the best of Broadway right here to the SKYPAC stage-and beyond!

"Steel Magnolias" features cast members with national credentials that span film, television, and Broadway. We have a guest Director, Tim Altmeyer, who also brings a wealth of experience on Broadway and on national tours with major stars in theaters around across the country. How lucky we are to get to witness all this talent and experience right here on our stage!

But that’s not all...

"Steel Magnolias" is our first non-musical play for Ramsey Theatre Company. This beautiful and moving play is beloved by many people and inspired the classic 1989 film.  We are also touring this production (another RTC first!) to the RiverPark Center in Owensboro, KY, to continue to spread the word of RTC's Broadway caliber productions created here at the SKYPAC.

As part of our Greenwood Ford-Lincoln Broadway series, we invite you to come back to our upcoming shows. We'll be hosting the touring productions of "Chicago", the musical, and "Hadestown". We'll then finish this season with Ramsey Theatre Company's production of Disney’s "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". Get your tickets now for these amazing productions!

For all the latest information about Ramsey Theatre Company please follow us on all of our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok). There, you will find the very latest photos, "sneak peeks" and behind-the scenes coverage along with our latest news.

We are so grateful you are here with us today and are proud to be the resident theatre company of the SKYPAC, creating high-caliber productions and extraordinary performances for Bowling Green-and beyond- and becoming a national destination for all artists.

Thank you for supporting live theatre!

Diane DiCroce

Director's Note

 Tim Altmeyer

I first saw the film adaptation of Steel Magnolias when I was in acting school in Chapel Hill, NC. At the time I didn’t know the play, but as a student of acting living in a definitively Southern town, I was struck by how the actors in that iconic movie lived so authentically in their performances. It was clear to me that Robert Harling (who wrote both the play and the screenplay), with his eye for layered relationships and his ear for language, made those performances possible with his rich, deeply knowing writing.

Later in my life as an actor, I got to spend time with Rosemary Prinz (who originated the role of M’Lynn in New York) and Margo Martindale (who originated the role of Truvy). Both actors spoke lovingly to me about their time with Robert Harling’s play and about this family at the heart of it.

As a career actor and director, I have found myself (consciously or not) gravitating toward plays about family—those we are born with and those we find. With our family, we are home. For me, that is a theme I have found worth visiting repeatedly in my work.

My hope is that in Steel Magnolias you see your family—your mother, your daughter, your grandmother, your granddaughter, your aunt, your sister, your niece, your cousin, your sister friend—and by doing so, you find yourself a little closer to home.

A Timeless Tale of Love, Justice, and Belonging…

Based on Victor Hugo’s epic novel and the beloved Disney animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a sweeping musical journey that blends glorious music with powerful storytelling. Featuring the film’s Academy Award-nominated score by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, along with stunning new songs written especially for the stage—this adaptation brings new depth and drama to the classic tale. Peter Parnell’s evocative book embraces the style of story theatre, incorporating verbatim passages from Hugo’s original text to honor the gothic beauty and moral complexity of the source material. At once grand and intimate, The Hunchback of Notre Dame explores what it means to be truly seen, truly heard, and truly human.
