The Ramsey Theatre Company was formed through a generous gift from Robert P. Ramsey to produce professional-level theatre to serve the BRADD area. The Rita and Jim Scott Concert Hall at SKYPAC serves as its primary home. Auditions are conducted nationally through online submissions, as well as in-person auditions in New York City and at the United Professional Theatre Auditions in Memphis, TN. Auditions for our musicals for locally and regionally based actors are held in-person at the SKYPAC. Orchestra Kentucky takes the place of honor in the Robin and David Ciochetty orchestra pit.
Remembering Mr. Robert P. Ramsey-
We're Forever Grateful.

A Note from Producing Artistic Director,
Diane DiCroce

Welcome to Ramsey Theatre Company’s production of Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”. Whether you are here with us for the first time or have been season subscribers, we welcome you to this special show at SKYPAC!
Looking ahead, we hope you will subscribe to our 2026-27 Greenwood Ford Lincoln Broadway Series including: “The Best Gift: A Christmas Carol Musical (our new RTC Christmas tradition!), “Misery” (the play, based on the Stephen King novel and hit 1990 movie) and another Disney classic, “The Little Mermaid”! We will also be hosting the National Broadway tours of “Beetlejuice” and “Waitress”. Call or stop by our box office now to learn how you can secure the best possible seats!
We just marked the 30th anniversary of the Disney animated feature of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”. Unlike many other Disney Broadway shows “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” live, staged version actually premiered in Berlin in 1999, running there for three years before reopening at two regional theatres here in the United States. Since that time, the score and cast album of this show has become one of the most beloved in the musical theater cannon as a result of the only collaboration between two of our greatest living musical theater composer/lyricists, Steven Schwartz (“Wicked”, “Godspell”, “Pippin” and others) and Alan Menken (“The Little Mermaid”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Little Shop of Horrors”, and others). The challenges of acceptance and overcoming adversity resonate through the show with the title character as well as the Romani people, referred to in this production as “The Gypsies”. The central question asked in this story, “What makes a monster and what makes a man?”, certainly challenges our perceptions of goodness and righteousness and how they are embodied and practiced. This stage version more closely mirrors the outcomes of the classic Victor Hugo novel of the same name written in 1831 and the central themes echo those that are still relevant today-almost 200 years later.
I would be remiss in not acknowledging the efforts of the many people who made this deceptively huge show possible. The 33 on stage cast members, the 19 choir members, the 17 members of our orchestra, including our Grammy and multi-Dove award-winning Music Director, Mr. Dick Tunney, with whom I have collaborated with these last two years, and Assistant Music Director, Melissa Bull.
Making his professional debut as our choreographer is recent WKU Dance graduate, Jake Dukes, who has been involved with numerous Ramsey Theatre Company productions, as well as BG OnStage productions in his younger years. His trajectory and path through these companies is not only a source of pride, but a sense of purpose for the full-time SKYPAC staff (10) directly involved with this production and the approximately 12 part-time backstage staff supporting this production as well.
Also returning to us and leading our stage management team is Kendall Jennings. Another WKU grad (‘23) who recently completed her first national tour and several regional theater productions in the greater New York City metro area. I’m eternally grateful to Jake, Kendall, our Assistant Stage Managers Bryn and Shianne, and our assistant Director Elizabeth for their consistency and reliability throughout this process.
In total, there are more that 90 people directly involved with this production, plus all our amazing SKYPAC Staff who support all of the live events here throughout the year.
Live regional theater creates opportunities that change lives. They spark growth and provide the thrill of live storytelling that brings us all together to celebrate what makes us truly human.
Please follow and like us on all our social media platforms and visit our website for upcoming audition information for next season! We will also be launching our resident artist program with the opening of our new Robert P. Ramsey annex (right next door) which will help us solidify casting and staffing considerations for our youth educational touring company, AcTours, BG OnStage and Ramsey Theatre Company. We are also expanding our class offerings this Fall so please visit our website for more information or to sign up!
Thank you again for being with us. And for helping us get closer to “Someday”.

Summary
Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcases the film’s Academy Award-nominated score, as well as new songs by Menken and Schwartz. Peter Parnell’s new book embraces story theatre and features verbatim passages from Hugo’s gothic novel.
The musical begins as the bells of Notre Dame sound through the famed cathedral in fifteenth-century Paris. Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer who longs to be "Out There," observes all of Paris reveling in the Feast of Fools. Held captive by his devious caretaker, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, he escapes for the day and joins the boisterous crowd, only to be treated cruelly by all but the beautiful Romani woman, Esmeralda. Quasimodo isn’t the only one captivated by her free spirit, though – the handsome Captain Phoebus and Frollo are equally enthralled. As the three vie for her attention, Frollo embarks on a mission to destroy the Roma – and it’s up to Quasimodo to save them all.
A sweeping score and powerful story make The Hunchback of Notre Dame an instant classic. Audiences will be swept away by the magic of this truly unforgettable musical.
