Science Through Art

In 2000, Dr. Jose Francisco Salgado, an astronomer at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago and an adjunct professor at Benedictine University, began to apply his skills in scientific illustration and photography to create astronomy-themed artwork. The purpose was to "provoke curiosity and a sense of wonder about the earth and the universe." This evolved into a series of projects with art as a vehicle to communicate science and to inspire people to learn more about science. The flagship project is "Science & Symphony" films, consisting of live performances of classical works accompanied by high definition science films produced specifically for these works. Enjoy Mussorgsky's famous Pictures at an Exhibition as arranged by Ravel, with KV265's jaw-dropping images from the Hubble Telescope. The film will be introduced by Jose Salgado, the founder of KV265. KV265 is a play on Mozart's work with the same catalogue number. Mozart's K.265 is variations on "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!"
