Baritone Michael Bromley ’26 is a senior at Shenandoah University pursuing his Bachelor of Arts in Music. He discovered his love for singing at nine years old when he would write songs for his elementary school music class, and has been active in musical and theatrical productions ever since. Bromley has received several awards for his talents, such as placing in the NAfME All-National Honors Mixed Choir and winning first place in his category at the Virginia NATS Conference three times. Bromley’s first opera performance was a chorus role in Igor Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress in the fall of 2022. He would later have chorus roles in Claudio Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea and George Frederick Handel’s Acis and Galatea, in which he toured performing in Portugal and Spain. In the spring of 2025, Bromley had his solo opera debut, playing the role of Pistola in Giuseppe Verdi’s Falstaff. He was recently cast to play the role of Father in Englebert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel in the spring of 2026. Outside of opera, Bromley performs music in Shenandoah University’s Conservatory Choir and as a member of the New Voices and Sanctuary Choirs at Braddock Street United Methodist Church. In his free time, Bromley enjoys listening to vinyl records, drinking coffee, playing guitar, and spending time with his cats and dog.
Michael Bromley is from the studio of Byron Jones. This recital is presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Voice).
