Poem by Andrew Hiebert
It speaks it does, it does
“By all the things that flit and chirp and buzz?”
It speaks,
*by the mighty beasts that crash and roar?*
It speaks,
“By the ancient ones that fall but make no sound?
It speaks, it does
In the trickles and the rushes that come crashing over falls
It does
In the ridges and the valleys, in the sweat and groans and giggly tumbles down down down
It speaks, it does
From the poignant pause of heavy breath to a final weary vigil, and the whispered voices through the ancient ones yet tall
It. Speaks.
In the endless fractal valleys carved of eon’s tears
Under the cartographer’s pen, the planner’s zone, and the miner’s mark
On the vast horizon as in the deepest cave
It speaks
And there we hear. In that we feel. In those we see.
It speaks
It goes
It’s seen
It is
We hear
We feel
We see
We are
