Emily Mullen is a senior instrumental music education major and history minor with Civil War studies and Performance Certificates here at Shenandoah Conservatory. She has been playing violin since age four and picked up viola in middle school. Last spring, she made the switch to viola and has fallen in love with the rich timbre. As she prepares to graduate, she is planning to either attend graduate school for musicology and public history, or to work in a non-traditional education setting teaching music and public history.
Mullen performs in a wide variety of ensembles on campus including Symphony Orchestra, Pit Orchestra and many more. Emily is incredibly grateful for the support of her teachers and would like to thank Ginger Paris, Gina DiCarlo, Chris Sexton, Doris Lederer, Akemi Takayama, Emanuele Andrizzi, Jonathan Noyalas and the music education faculty. She would also like to thank her wonderful parents, Jason and Melodie, Nana, Izzy and her partner, Logan for their support over the years and for always encouraging her to pursue her passions.
Thank you to my Audio Engineers Logan Parker and Jake Tuttle for their work in today's recital.
Emily Mullen is from the studio of Doris Lederer. This recital is presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (Viola) and Performance Certificate (Viola).
