Program Note

Prior to attending my undergraduate university they held a Prospective Students weekend where you could take an exam that would guarantee a scholarship of some kind. This exam included questions from every department and ended with the question: “If your life was made into a movie, what would the soundtrack be?” This recital is the “soundtrack of my life” and is filled with songs from my childhood to now, ordered chronologically based on specific life events.

Biography

Colleen Carpenter is a performer and voice teacher from Sequim, Washington. After completing her bachelor's degree in voice performance from Pacific University in 2021, Colleen moved to Winchester to pursue her master’s degree in voice pedagogy. She has been seen on Shenandoah University stages participating in various student groups including the Harmonizing Hornets and in fellow pedagogy students’ recitals. During her time here she has studied under Dr. Matt Edwards, Dr. Kathryn Green, Alison Crockett-Landham, and is finishing up her private voice studies with Edrie Means Weekly. She is excited to share her master's recital with you as a culmination of her studies into contemporary commercial music and educating the next generation of vocalists.

Degree Fulfillment

Colleen Carpenter is from the studio of Edrie Means Weekly. This recital is presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Master of Music in Pedagogy (Contemporary Commercial Music – Voice).
