A virtual stream from the Undermain Archive, we bring you the 2010 solo performance, The Be(a)st of Taylor Mac, filmed by Katherine Owens in the Undermain performance venue and available only to season subscribers. Clad in exotic dress and sequined makeup, Taylor Mac brings this showcase of work to the stage with a multitude of costumes and props from a giant suitcase while accompanying himself on the ukulele and mandolin. A flamboyant chameleon of words, music, and sociopolitical tirades, visual and vocal phenomenon, Mac employs gender-bending surrealism to explore the human condition and challenge the contemporary culture of fear.
The Be(a)st of Taylor Mac was originally produced by Paul Lucas and Taylor Mac for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, under the direction of David Drake.
