“The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com
The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe opened on Broadway at the Plymouth Theatre on September 26, 1985. Directed by playwright Jane Wagner, the production starred Lily Tomlin. After touring extensively with the show, Tomlin returned to Broadway for a limited engagement of the play, opening at the Booth Theatre on November 16, 2000. In January 2022, The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe premiered off-Broadway at The Shed, starring Cecily Strong directed by Leigh Silverman.
This play is a beast. It is a remarkable work and it has been an absolute joy to work with this beautiful team and our incredible Marianne. It takes the audience on an exquisitely crafted journey thru human experience. As we get the pieces of the puzzle the picture of how interconnected we are and how no one is insignificant begins to form. When it all fits together it's truly beautiful. I love the idea of looking at humanity as a whole and without preconceived notions. I love to be reminded of our connection and our beautiful brokenness. I hope you get goosebumps.

The below listing reflects gifts received between 03.01.2023 and 04.10.2024. We apologize for any unintentional omissions.
We gratefully acknowledge the 500+ donors who each year, through their contributions, make it possible for WTT to present over 125 performances each year. Although space limits our ability to publicly recognize donors at levels below $250, we deeply and sincerely appreciate every contribution. As ticket sales cover only a portion of our annual costs, these generous gifts of patrons, corporations, foundations, and others are critical to WTT’s ability to create quality professional theatre for our audience.
