The Joy of Christmas & Live Theatre

When I first applied to direct Miracle on 34th Street, I was excited to have the opportunity to be able to bring this holiday classic to the Mishler stage. I was enthralled by the magic of the story: the strength and pragmatism of Doris and Susan; the unwavering patience and steadfast resolve of Fred; the journey of so many characters to find faith, love, and belief in the magic of the season. It’s a narrative worth exploring and a wholesome story for this day and age. The time was April 2020, the pandemic was just beginning, and none of us knew at that time we would be putting live theatre on hold for so long.

A year and a half later we’ve all weathered many ups and downs, and found creative solutions to new problems. For Altoona Community Theatre, we were able to produce some great digital content, providing a creative outlet for our actors and quality entertainment for our patrons. We are incredibly fortunate to be able to produce live theatre this season. I am personally very glad you are sitting here, reading this, ready to enjoy this show.

The cast and crew of Miracle on 34th Street have spent countless hours over the last two months preparing this show. From the very beginning, I have been amazed by the level of talent and dedication they have shown. I couldn’t be happier with the end result, nor could I be prouder of what they have achieved. I am truly honored to share this show with you. Thank you for being here and showing your support for live, local theatre art.
