Alexandra Zakharchenko, First Season
MORRIS PLAINS, NEW JERSEY

Alexandra “Sasha” Zakharchenko began her pre-professional training at New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble under the direction of Nancy Turano. In addition to studying more traditional styles of dance, she also studied character dance with Riverdance Soloist Andrij Cybyk and rhythmic gymnastics under Russian Master of Sport, Natalia Ejova. In 2019 she was awarded the New Jersey Governor’s Award in Arts Education for Artistic Excellence and Leadership in Dance. Prior to coming to Alabama Ballet, Alexandra completed a contract with Mareck Dance (Formerly Missouri Contemporary Ballet). During the summers of 2022 and 2023 she also had the exciting opportunity to collaborate with professionals from all over the U.S., to bring to life the ballet Vampyre and Cleopatra with Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance. Since joining Alabama Ballet in 2021, her favorite repertoire includes The Artist in Imitations by Garrett Smith, Winter Fairy in Cinderella, Dawn in Coppelia and Not Fade Away Girl in Christopher Bruce’s Rooster. Alexandra is looking forward to an incredible season filled with artistry and passion as she goes into her first season as a company member with Alabama Ballet.
