Since 2017, Ruth Hartt has worked alongside the president of the Clayton Christensen Institute for Disruptive Innovation. Co-founded by renowned business thinker Clayton Christensen, the Institute works to provide solutions to pressing social issues by leveraging the power of disruptive business theory.
Prior to joining the Institute, Ruth spent nearly two decades in the arts sector as an opera singer, choral director, vocal coach, and music educator, garnering accolades for her operatic roles and bringing choral students to perform at Carnegie Hall.
Ruth draws from her extensive experience in the cultural and nonprofit sectors, providing guidance for arts organizations that are eager to shake off the status quo and rebuild their audiences through the power of customer-centric innovation. She frequently serves as a keynote speaker, workshop leader, and webinar presenter in the arts sector.
A diverse background—growing up in blue-collar Maine, teaching high school students, engaging with wealthy opera patrons in champagne receptions, and supporting the research of a Harvard Business School professor—provides Ruth a unique perspective in her work as a relevance strategist in the arts sector.
Ruth lives in coastal Maine with her husband and son.
