Monte Escalante is thrilled to be making her Barter Theatre debut in her first production as Hannah & others in Come From Away & Liza & others in Kings Mountain.  Her most recent Theatre credits include memorable performances at The Latino Theater Company in Los Angeles as (Mama Luz/Shine) in Mascogos and (Marie Laveau & others) in Ghost Waltz, (Rowena) in Talented Tenth & (Ida B. Wells) in A Heated Discussion Revisited, both at the Robey Theater Company in Los Angeles. She is a SAG/AFTRA member, with her most recent favorite Co-Starring roles in NBC’s This Is Us and ABC’s Black-ish, and in the music videos for "Designated Driver" and "Tough Skin," as DaBaby's mother. Her commercial credits include voice-overs and auto/ health insurance. She is a proud product of Howard University (THE REAL HU…..U KNOWWW)! BFA program & the Department of Psychology. In her downtime, this Cleveland native, now a recent Los Angeles “Angelino,” enjoys directing, coaching, acting, reading, writing, cooking, and hiking. She’d like to dedicate this performance to her Beloved grandmother Beulah, who passed a year before 9/11, her mother, whose nickname is Mickey, her aunt Beverly, her Uncle-Daddy Jesse, and most importantly, to each and every person impacted by 9/11 and 'the late Hannah O’Rourke'.
