Douglas Pote

Douglas Pote is a retired family physician who practiced in Southwest Virginia for 30 years. He has written three bio-musical plays developed and first performed at Barter: Keep On the Sunny Side about the Carter Family in 2002; Man of Constant Sorrow about the Stanley Brothers in 2005; and America’s Blue Yodeler about Jimmie Rodgers in 2007. Keep On the Sunny Side in 2005 and Man of Constant Sorrow in 2006 were selected by the National Alliance for Musical Theatre among the years top 20 new musicals. He lives in Chilhowie with his wife Hope.
