Carrie Smith Lewis first came to Barter Theatre as an actor in the fall of 2006. Since then, Carrie has worked at Barter as an actor, director, casting assistant, dialect coach, box office attendant, and text coach. Regional directing credits include: The Spongebob Musical, True West, and Romeo and Juliet. For the Barter: Macbeth, Morning After Grace, and The Road to Appomattox (Smith Theatre), The Tempest and The Twelve Dates of Christmas (Moonlite Theatre), and Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Julius Caesar, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, and Cinderella (Barter Players). Carrie received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from East Tennessee State University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from Florida Atlantic University. She has worked regionally with the Texas Shakespeare Festival, Georgia Shakespeare, North Carolina Stage Company, Immediate Theatre Project, Hampstead Stage Company, and Rude Mechanicals Productions. She has also served on the faculties of East Tennessee State University and Emory & Henry College. She resides in Abingdon with her husband Justin Tyler Lewis and their daughter Charlie.
