In his forty-year career John has directed over 150 professional productions. Most recently for Barter Theatre: COUNTRY GIRLS in 2023 and IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE in 2022; FRANKENSTEIN, which re-opened The Barter in the Fall of 2021 and KENTUCKY SPRING in April of 2022. Other productions directed: HAMLET, OTHELLO and THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR at Nebraska Shakespeare, and elsewhere: ANTIGONE, HENRY V, TARTUFFE, MACBETH, MAN OF LA MANCHA, THE MIKADO, AMEDEUS among others. As an actor John has been privileged to play many of the great roles including Malvolio in TWELFTH NIGHT, Jacques in AS YOU LIKE IT, Tom Wingfield in THE GLASS MENAGERIE, Hamlet, Macbeth, Fred/Young Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL (Off-Broadway), Teach in AMERICAN BUFFALO and others. As a playwright John has had over 300 productions of fifteen plays produced around the globe. John tours two one-man plays throughout the country: RATTLESNAKE, an original play in which he plays sixteen characters, and a one-man adaptation of A CHRISTMAS CAROL in which he plays forty-three characters.
