Alice in Wonderland Synopsis

Act I: Down the Rabbit Hole

As the ballet begins, we find Alice reading under a tree in her garden. Suddenly, a White Rabbit appears! As the rabbit disappears down a hole in the garden, curiosity gets the best of Alice, and she follows. Down the rabbit hole, Alice quickly gets lost, and discovers a mysterious door. She finds a drink that makes her shrink and another that makes her grow as she continues to try and make her way through the mysterious door.

Frustrated and alone, Alice begins to cry, and is swept away by her own tears. She swims with some sea creatures as her tears continue to sweep her away. Eventually swept into a garden, Alice is greeted by dancing flowers, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, and a Caterpillar! They all help guide her along on her journey.

Act II: A Mad Tea Party

Alice's adventure continues as she meets a magical Cheshire Cat, who leads her to a Tea Party. The Mad Hatter invites her to tea, and she is joined by the White Rabbit, Caterpillar, and Cheshire Cat.

Act III: The Queen of Heart’s Palace

From the Tea Party, Alice finds herself wandering into the Queen's Palace. Gardeners and suits of cards dance all around. Alice watches a series of silly activities, including a game of croquet with flamingos as mallets and hedgehogs as balls. The Queen's temper finally gets the better of her after inviting Alice to play croquet. In a fit of jealousy, watching Alice and her new friends win the game, the Queen orders, "Off with everyone's head!!" Chaos ensues until the Cheshire Cat's magic brings it all to a halt. The White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, and Caterpillar all guide Alice back to reality, where she wakes up under her tree in the garden, realizing it was all a dream.
