Bryony Stroud-Watson
Conductor

Bryony Stroud-Watson is a teaching artist whose performances and teaching style are known for their engagement, creativity, and warmth. Bryony’s education as a violinist began in the Suzuki program at UTK and continued through attended the North Carolina School of the Arts, the Hartt School of Music, and the Purchase Conservatory of Music earning her BA, MA, and Artists Diploma. 


Always interested in gaining new skills and insights into music and the brain, Bryony has continually invested in taking teacher trainings and continues to learn how to be an effective teacher. She enjoys teaching at all levels and ages, including adults, and believes in the idea that music can bring people together and be an instrument of healing. In New York Bryony founded the Artemis Chamber Ensemble which concertized regionally for eight seasons and she performed memorable tours and recordings with the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra as well as many other regional orchestras. She taught private lessons and ensembles at the Hudson River School of Music and the Rye Arts Center and coached chamber music for the Norwalk Youth Symphony (CT). 


Since returning to Chattanooga, Bryony has enjoyed reconnecting with the CYS and was the Chamber Music Coordinator for one season. She also was tapped by Gloria Chien to launch the innovative String Theory Youth Internship at the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga. Currently, she maintains a large private studio in Chattanooga, TN and performs regularly with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera. Bryony and her husband, also a musician, host wellness workshops, performances, masterclasses, group classes, and creative gatherings in their home studio in St. Elmo. She was chosen as Chattanooga Music Teacher Association Teacher of The Year in 2022. 


Bryony is a member of several organizations including the Chamber Music America, Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Suzuki Association of Georgia, and the Chattanooga Music Club. She serves on the board of the Chattanooga Music Teachers’ Association and the American Federation of Musicians Tri-State Local 80. Bryony is an avid gardener, an adventurous home cook and enjoys bird watching and hiking. She and her husband David, also a musician, love living in the historic neighborhood of St. Elmo, growing a dream garden and caring for their rescue dogs Laverne and Harbor along with Mr.Spot, our cat from Yonkers, NY.
