Jameson Darcy is a 23 year-old violinist from Boulder County, Colorado. They began receiving violin lessons in the 8th grade and within three years were selected to become one of two apprentice members of the Boulder Symphony. In Colorado, Jameson studies under the inimitable artistry of Yinfeng Keynes Chen—a mentor who taught the importance of singing through your bow and asking the biggest questions a musician can engage with. They began elementary Suzuki instruction with Mr. Chen at age 14 and learned everything from showpieces to the Tchaikovsky Concerto before entering college. Jameson was also concertmaster and soloist of the Longmont Youth Symphony and associate concertmaster of the Western States Honor Orchestra. Jameson graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy in 2020 and was a member of Interlochen’s 2019 World Youth Symphony Orchestra; at camp, Jameson studied with wonderful mentors such as Cristian Mǎcelaru, JoAnn Falletta, Moni Simeonov, Alex Shiozaki, and Jung-Ho Pak. Currently, they are pursuing an undergraduate classical performance degree at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. In Chicago, Jameson is (both wonderfully and breathlessly) fortunate to study in the joint studio of Almita and Dr. Roland Vamos. Through their brilliance and methodology, Jameson has discovered entire new worlds within classical music, met wonderful artists from far corners of the globe, and matured into an expressive artist with professionalism. Jameson regularly studies with members of the Chicago Symphony and is delighted that student tickets for CSO concerts are $15! As a freshman, Jameson was selected to lead CCPA’s string ensemble and contemporary music ensemble, performing repertoire ranging from Dvořák’s String Serenade, Hailstork’s Symphony No. 1, and Grant Still’s Ennanga. In the 2024 CHQ season, Jameson was selected to serve as concertmaster for the season finale’s performance of All Rise with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. A life-changing experience, they are still reeling from the fact that JLCO musicians know Jameson on a first name basis.
